IRU & SB Mobility Customer Care Product & Offer Solutions June 7, 2010 iPhone Daily Digest Daily Information You Need to Know Regarding iPhone AT&T Statement on iPhone 4 Availability AT&T announced today we are on-track to deliver iPhone 4 to customers who preordered the device on June 15.We look forward to offering iPhone 4 to all other customers beginning Tuesday, June 29, when it goes on sale in all AT&T sales channels. Here are a few guidelines for customers buying iPhone 4 from AT&T: · Preordered for home or business delivery: iPhone 4 will begin arriving this week for customers who preordered. We’ll send an email when each order has shipped. · Preordered for store delivery: AT&T retail representatives will begin calling customers this week to let them know their iPhone 4 is available for pick up in store. · Retail purchase (no preorder): AT&T plans to have iPhone 4 inventory – available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last – on June 29 in its retail locations, at www.att.com, and in business sales channels. As inventory sells out, AT&T will offer the convenient option of purchasing iPhone 4 and having it delivered to a home or business or an AT&T store. As always, customers will receive an email once their order is placed, and again when it ships. Why is AT&T waiting until June 29th to sell devices in store? Due to the extraordinary demand for iPhone 4 during pre-orders, all of our initial inventory will be used to fulfill those pre-orders from customers. We will have additional inventory available for our sales channels to be able to sell on June 29th. Why isn’t AT&T doing pre-orders anymore? Due to the extraordinary demand for iPhone 4, during pre-orders, all of our initial inventory will be used to fulfill those pre-orders from customers. Exception: CRU Contracted customers are able to pre-order through Phoenix and Premier. Refer to the Pre-Order communication that went out earlier today for more information on pre-orders for CRU Contracted customers. I know I can walk into a store on June 29th to buy a phone, but can I go online or call in to order iPhone 4 sooner than that? Beginning June 29th, customers can go to a retail location, online at att.com, or call into their usual sales channels to order iPhone 4 for shipping to their home/business or to the store for pickup. Orders for iPhone 4 will not resume before June 29th. To be continued....

T Bone said: There's a bit more to it than better phones, you actually do get a better network with superior coverage on a post paid account than you do on a pre-paid account.... That, my friend, is an ASSumption, especially when you state it in the all-inclusive tone that you do. I will show an example to prove my point, and I will use T-Mobile. Post Paid: Samsung Galaxy S III Pebble Blue 32 GB $329.99 after $50 mail-in rebate, I will assume $329.99, 2 year contract required. Qualifying Plan: Classic Unlimited™ Bundle with Data, includes unlimited talk, unlimited text, unlimited data with first 2gb at 4G speed at a cost of $79.99 per month. 24 months x 79.99 per month = 1919.76, plus 329.99 cost of phone = total of 2249.75 over two years. Pre-Paid: Samsung Galaxy S III Pebble Blue 32 GB $679.99 possible $50 mail-in rebate, I will assume $679.99, no year contract required. Qualifying Plan: Monthly4G, includes unlimited talk, unlimited text, unlimited data with first 2gb at 4G speed at a cost of $60 per month. 24 months x 60 per month = 1440.00, plus 679.99 cost of phone = total of 2119.99 over two years. ------- With T-Mobile, you can basically pick any plan on post-paid and see an identical allotment plan on pre-paid for $20/month less. That's a $480 difference over two years. So, just add $480 to the contract price of the phone, and you will find you've actually paid more using a post-paid plan. In this example, I chose a pre-paid and post paid plan that included identical usage allotments, and compared the cost of the phone at full retail price which you can walk into any retail store and purchase at full price, over the course of 2 years you actually saved $129.76 by going pre-paid over post paid, by choosing the exact same phone. Now, on the Monthly4G plans and the traditional post paid plans, I would invite you to look at coverage. If you can find an address that is not covered on the pre-paid that is on the post paid, please post that address. I can verify that that particular plan will roam onto the AT&T network where T-Mobile coverage is unavailable, such as using 'service partner' coverage in the Dakotas. T-Mobile also allows WiFi calling on their pre-paid Monthly4G plans, and I can verify that my GPS-based apps, calling, and texting all worked in an area of zero cellular coverage from any carrier with no problem and at no extra charge. The only drawback I found was that certain plan add-ons were not available on pre-paid when they were on post paid.

you havnt needed to use wifi for the activation in a couple yrs buddy. iphones activate over cellular connection just like android and windows phone, That's true but i'm talking about activating pre-paid phones, I'm sorry I should have made that clear. Specifically I am talking about activating pre-paid iPhones on Straight Talk, Tracfone and Net10...and pre-paid iPhones absolutely, positively, 100% MUST be activated using WiFi and cannot be activated any other way, because there is no 'cellular service' available until AFTER the activation is completed. That's the funny way that pre-paid service works. There is nothing to activating a post paid phone, you push a button the computer screen, service is activated, and then begin activation of the phone. But with pre-paid it's different....with pre-paid, you have to activate the phone first, and only then, after the phone is activated, do you get service. Pre-paid activations are backwards, that's what makes activation of a pre-paid iPhone such a hassle.
